Golden State Valkyries center Kiah Stokes has passed Brittney Griner for the most blocks in a single WNBA Finals series.
On Saturday, the Valkyries took back the home-court advantage against the Atlanta Dream. Golden State tied the WNBA Finals at 2-2 after a 67-62 win in Game 4 at State Farm Arena.
Gabby Williams continued to pace Golden State’s offense, finishing with a team-high 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Stokes anchored Golden State’s defense with a game-high 16 rebounds and three blocks, bringing her series total to a record 14.
The 33-year-old veteran’s elite rim protection saw her surpass Griner and Sylvia Fowles for the most total blocks in a WNBA Finals series.
The WNBA announced the news on X.
“Kiah Stokes is now the first player in WNBA Finals history to record 3+ blocks in four consecutive games. Stokes also passes Sylvia Fowles and Brittney Griner for the most total blocks in a WNBA Finals,” WNBA Communications’ post read.

Griner first set the blocks record in the 2014 WNBA Finals with 12. Fowles matched it three years later.
For context, Griner recorded her 12 blocks in just two games, helping lead the Phoenix Mercury to a championship against the Chicago Sky. The 10-time WNBA All-Star recorded eight blocks in Game 1 and four blocks in Game 2 before being forced to sit out Game 3 due to injury. The Mercury swept the Sky, 3-0.
Stokes will look to add to her total as the series shifts back to Chase Center on Monday for Game 5. Atlanta will host Game 6, with Game 7 at Chase Center if necessary.
Meanwhile, Griner is set to enter free agency in the offseason as her one-year deal with the Connecticut Sun expires. The two-time Defensive Player of the Year has completed 13 WNBA seasons.
