WNBA Announces Official Playoffs News on Sunday

The Minnesota Lynx have been on a tear this 2026 WNBA season.

The four-time WNBA champions currently hold the top seed with a 27-7 record. They’re still on track to surpass their record last year (34-10) with 10 games left in the regular season.

The Lynx also hold the longest winning streak in the WNBA this year. They had a 10-game winning streak, which was cut short by a loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday.

Despite that, Minnesota is now back to winning ways after securing back-to-back victories. They dominated the defending champions, the Las Vegas Aces, on Saturday, and the Dallas Wings on Sunday at home.

With their 103-90 win against Dallas, the Lynx are the first team to clinch a spot in the 2026 WNBA playoffs. The league made the official announcement on X.

The Lynx have been a dominant force in the WNBA for more than a decade now. In the last 16 years, they have only missed the playoffs once, during the 2022 season.

They have also won four WNBA titles in those 16 years. To top it off, Minnesota appeared in the WNBA Finals for seven straight seasons, from 2011 to 2017.

However, they have yet to win another title since 2017. In 2024, they lost to the New York Liberty in the finals.

Minnesota has proven it can compete with the league’s best throughout the regular season. With the playoffs secured, the Lynx can now shift their focus toward making another deep postseason run.
