According to Vegas Insider, the WNBA average attendance has increased by 52% over the past decade. At first, the WNBA’s sudden growth from the Caitlin Clark effect appeared to be a trend, but now it appears to be a regular in the professional sports world. Here’s why.

WNBA Average Attendance

According to Vegas Insider, the WNBA’s average attendance grew by 52% over the past decade, a stark contrast to the NBA’s attendance grew by just 5%. Caitlin Clark boosted the Indiana Fever’s attendance by 319% in 2024 compared to 2023.

The league’s average attendance was 128,824, and the NBA’s average attendance was 713,718 in 2014. Fast forward to 2024, where the WNBA’s attendance is 132,946, and the NBA’s average attendance is 675,768. Vegas Insider’s shocking data was sourced by ESPN and Across The Timeline

WNBA Average Attendance Future

Vegas Insider’s new data projected that Paige Bueckers could increase the Dallas Wings’ average attendance from 5,911 to 16,173, while Hailey Van Lith could boost the Chicago Sky’s average attendance from 8,757 to 13,477. Bueckers, 23, was selected first overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft out of UConn, and Van Lith, 23, was selected 11th overall in 2025 out of TCU. Van Lith also played at LSU and Louisville.

Final Thoughts

So far, the selections of Bueckers and Van Lith have impacted social media. Bueckers joined the Dallas Wings with 2.5 million Instagram followers, while Van Lith joined the Chicago Sky with 1.4 million Instagram followers. Van Lith has work to do, as Sky star Angel Reese has 3.2 million Instagram followers since she was selected seventh overall in the 2023 WNBA Draft out of LSU. Reese, now 23, also played for Maryland.

While social media and attendance are different subjects, Bueckers and Van Lith’s Instagram followers could impact the league’s average attendance in 2025. The potential Bueckers and Van Lith effects can help followers become fans, as Instagram is a powerful social media platform for inspiration in all categories. Bueckers’ faith shaped her women’s basketball career, while Van Lith’s beauty evolution is eye-opening.

The 2025 average attendance in the “W” remains up in the air, but the star power has an impact on the league as a whole. However, Bueckers and Van Lith are just two WNBA stars. It’s rather beneficial to expand the mind and follow other WNBA stars, such as the Minnesota Lynx’s Napheesa Collier, the New York Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu, and the Los Angeles Sparks’ Kelsey Plum.
