Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark has established herself as one of the WNBA’s marquee players. However, she has yet to win a WNBA championship, and she fell short again this season.
Clark and the Fever saw their championship hopes end after losing to the Las Vegas Aces. They fell to the defending champions, 2-1, in their first-round playoff matchup.
Despite the loss, the three-time WNBA All-Star was excellent for the Fever. She averaged 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 9.7 assists and 1.3 blocks across three games against the Aces.
Clark also had an exceptional performance in Game 2 of their series. She finished with 27 points, seven rebounds and 15 assists to help Indiana avoid elimination. However, she drew criticism from WNBA legend Candace Parker at one point in the game.
The Fever star tried to draw a foul with around 5:30 left in the first quarter. There was no foul called, and the Aces scored a quick bucket on the opposite end as Clark was arguing with the officials. Parker, who was calling the game for Amazon Prime Video’s broadcast, criticized the Fever star’s actions.
“Right here, you gotta get back on defense, Caitlin,” Parker said. “This is the playoffs.”
Later in the game, Clark hit a clutch three in the fourth quarter. She turned her attention to Parker and appeared to shout, “What the [expletive] do you think this is?”
The three-time WNBA Champion addressed the intense exchange on the latest episode of the “Post Moves” podcast, which Parker co-hosts with Clark’s Fever teammate, Aliyah Boston.
“It was cool, but I was just minding my business at the scorer’s table,” the WNBA icon said. “Caitlin Clark just hit a big three … I think she said, ‘What the [expletive] do you think this is?’
“… I was kind of like, ‘Yeah, great show. Let’s keep it moving.’ I’m just sitting here minding my own business. But I love it.”
Parker took no issue with Clark’s smack talk, pointing out that she, too, had been in that same position before.
“There are certain players that get riled up and love the chaos,” Parker continued. “I was one of those players that was like, ‘Please talk mess to me. Please point at my face. Please do those things to get me angry.’
“I love the passion and all of that stuff.”

Clark and Parker had a lighthearted exchange right after the final buzzer. The Fever guard approached Parker, telling her that she “blacked out” at that point in the game.
