WNBA Legend Rebecca Lobo Reacts to Angel Reese Making History

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese had a slow start to the 2025 WNBA season, but has ripped off a dominant stretch that continues to redefine her sophomore campaign. After sluggish early numbers, Reese has elevated her game with elite rebounding and all-purpose production en route to her second consecutive All-Star appearance.

That trend continued during the Sky’s game against the Washington Mystics on Tuesday. Reese piled up 22 points, 15 rebounds, and four assists, but Chicago fell short in a tight loss. Still, the performance etched her name into the history books—she became the only player in WNBA history to average 17 rebounds per game across a six‑game span, now achieving this feat for the fourth time.

The historic milestone has sparked praises from the basketball world, including WNBA legend Rebecca Lobo, who weighed in with a post on X.

"Angel Reese is the only player in @wnba history to average 17 rebounds per game over a 6‑game span. And she’s done it four times. (This is the 29th season of the league. Her rebounding numbers continue to be extraordinary.)"

This wasn’t the first time Lobo publicly praised Reese. Back in August last year, she defended her against critics who claimed her rebounding came mostly off her own misses: "If you take away all of the offensive rebounds off her own misses... She's still leading the league in offensive rebounds per game... She has been remarkable. Historically remarkable," Lobo said via ESPN.

The Sky hit the road, next facing the Minnesota Lynx on Saturday. With Reese riding her rebounding roll, Chicago will count on her continued dominance to help break out of their current skid and push for playoff contention in the second half of the season.
