WNBA Makes Historic Announcement After Aces' Loss to Storm

The Las Vegas Aces are off to an underwhelming start to the 2025 WNBA season. On Friday, they lost their third straight game despite having reigning MVP A'ja Wilson back in the fold.

Against the Seattle Storm, Wilson recorded 20 points, 14 rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocks in her return from injury. She was 6-of-11 from the field, although she did commit seven turnovers. Meanwhile, Jackie Young led Las Vegas in scoring with 22 points on top of five assists.

However, the duo's efforts were not enough, especially against a Storm team that got plenty of production from its starters. Four of the team's starters scored in double digits, led by Nneka Ogwumike's 25 points and Skylar Diggins' 24.

In total, the Storm starters outscored the Aces' first five, 88-68.

While it's another frustrating loss for the Aces, who dropped to 5-7 on the season, Wilson's performance gave them something to be happy about.

As the WNBA revealed on social media, it is Wilson's 78th game with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds, which allowed her to surpass Sylvia Fowles for the second-most 20-10 games in history.

Only Tina Charles has more 20-10 games than A'ja Wilson with 103, but the three-time WNBA MVP should be able to surpass that mark soon considering her current production rate.

Wilson is averaging 20.8 points, and 10.1 rebounds this campaign, which puts her on pace to break Charles' record before the season ends.

While the Aces are struggling this season, there's no denying that the 28-year-old Wilson — who was drafted first overall in 2018 — continues to prove herself as one of the most dominant forces the WNBA has ever seen.
