The Chicago Sky have finally done it. They're officially off the mark this season following Thursday's pivotal win over the Dallas Wings.
After a hard-fought battle at Wintrust Arena, the Sky were able to escape with a 97-92 win to secure their first win of the season. It's been a rough start to the campaign for Chicago, but the biggest takeaway from Thursday night is that they have now improved to 1-4.
The WNBA sent a message shortly after the final buzzer as it reacted to the Sky's first win of the campaign.
"The @chicagosky earn their first win of the season, defeating the Wings 97-92 at home " the league posted on X.

In its post, the WNBA also took note of a strong performance from Sky center Kamilla Cardoso, who went off for a career-high 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting, to go along with eight rebounds, an assist and one steal in 26 minutes of action.
As for the Wings, not even Arike Ogunbowale's 37-point explosion was enough to carry Dallas to victory. They are now 1-5 on the season.
The Sky will want to build on Thursday's win when they return to action on Saturday. They get to battle the Wings again, but this time around, it's Chicago who will travel to Dallas to face their opponents in a rematch at College Park Center.
There's still a long way to go for the Sky this season, but there's no denying that they took a big step in the right direction on Thursday night.
