The Indiana Fever face one of the biggest tests of their season thus far on Friday night. They host the Las Vegas Aces at home for Game 3 of the WNBA playoffs semifinals in a matchup that will have major implications for the series.

The Fever enter this matchup with the series tied at 1-1 after they won Game 1 in Vegas. The momentum is currently with the Aces, though, after they secured a blowout win in Game 2 to even things out.

Caitlin Clark will resume her usual role on the bench as the team’s number one cheerleader. The two-time All-Star was shut down for the season due to a groin injury and has been doing everything in her power to support her teammates off the court.

This includes wearing a pair of black Nike Air Force 1s, which is believed to be a lucky charm for Indiana. The 23-year-old first wore the pair in Game 2 of their first-round series against the Seattle Storm. The Fever won that do-or-die game, which prompted Clark to keep the black Forces on.

Indiana secured three consecutive victories with Clark wearing her lucky shoes, including Game 1 against the Aces in the semis. The black Air Force 1s suffered its first loss in Game 2 on Tuesday, though, and it appears that Clark has decided that the run is over.

The former Iowa star arrived at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for Friday’s game in a pair of Air Force 1s, but this time around, they were grey. Clark’s change in footwear drew a reaction from the WNBA.

“Looks like the AF1’s are light gray today ” the league posted on X.

The WNBA’s first post was a video of Clark signing autographs for the fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse before the game. The league noticed Clark’s shoes, though, and it could not help but point out her decision to forgo the black Forces.

There seems to be a bit of superstition involved here, considering how Clark made the change after the Fever lost Game 2. Whether or not it was the right choice, however, remains to be seen.
