Indiana Fever star point guard Caitlin Clark will play against the New York Liberty on Saturday after missing three weeks with a left quad injury.
Clark injured her left quad on May 24 at home versus the Liberty.
“There was imaging done to tell that my leg is okay," Clark said on Friday. "So I can find confidence in that we know we weren’t able to find anything or see anything and that was kind of my all clear.
"Then honestly, just sprinting. As you know, change of direction and sprinting in the game of basketball, that’s the biggest part of it. So feeling comfortable to be able to do those types of things and those types of movements. I’ve been doing that for a little bit now and I feel really confident in that.”
The WNBA is already reaping the benefits of Clark being back in the Fever's lineup.
According to Sabreena Merchant of The Athletic, Clark playing on Saturday has people wanting to attend the Fever-Liberty game:
"Clark’s star status continues to drive ticket sales; according to data from Vivid Seats, tickets to Saturday’s game against the Liberty are now 35 percent more in demand relative to the first Indiana game against New York, where Clark suffered her injury," Merchant wrote. "As of publication, the average price for Clark’s return is $276."
Clark is averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 9.3 assists this season for the Fever while shooting 40.3% from the field, 31.4% from 3 and 75.0% from the free-throw line.
The Fever went 2-2 with Clark in the lineup before she got hurt and 2-3 without her.
Clark won the 2024 Rookie of the Year Award. She's averaging 19.2 points and 8.5 assists in 44 WNBA games.
