WNBA Star Angel Reese Announces Personal News on Friday

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese is one of the WNBA's biggest stars both on and off the court. The 23-year-old led the league in rebounds per game in each of the last two seasons, and she now holds the record for the most double-doubles in a player's first two campaigns (49).

Additionally, Reese is an influential presence in pop culture. The LSU alum has endorsements with many companies, including Reebok, Beats by Dre, PlayStation, Airbnb, and others. She was also on the cover of Vogue Magazine, has 5.1 million Instagram followers, and hosts a podcast called Unapologetically Angel.

Reese uses the podcast to converse with athletes, entertainers, and other cultural figures. Past guests have included recording artists Latto and Mariah the Scientist, NBA legends Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O'Neal, and retired NFL star Cam Newton.

Reese made an announcement about the show on Friday via her social media.

"Your favorite show is backkkkkk," she said.

Reese shared the news both on her personal page and podcast page. On the podcast page, she posted a promotional video imitating a text message conversation between two friends expressing excitement about the return of the show. The first episode will be on Oct. 2, and new ones will come every Thursday.

The most recent episode was on April 10, as the show took a break for Reese's second WNBA season. However, this announcement marks a relaunch for the Unapologetically Angel brand.

Angel Reese Teases First Guest

Reese hinted at the show's next guest on Tuesday when she posted "Ask Common Anything" to her podcast page. Common is a Grammy and Oscar-winning recording artist and actor known for acclaimed tracks like "I Used to H.E.R.," "The Light," and "Go!". He also won an Oscar for Best Original Song in 2015 for "Glory," which was featured in the film "Selma."

Common, whose government name is Lonnie Rashid Lynn, grew up in Chicago and is the son of former ABA basketball player Lonnie Lynn. He is also the godson of Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Spencer Haywood, who played with the elder Lynn on the Denver Rockets. His father also got him a job with the Chicago Bulls as a teenager.

The return of Reese's show is the latest development in her off-court activity as she continues to expand her influence. Meanwhile, the two-time All-Star is still one of the league's best players as well.
