Brittney Griner spent her 12thWNBA season with the Atlanta Dream. After playing for the Phoenix Mercury for 11 years, the 6-foot-9 center signed with the Dream as a free agent ahead of the 2025 season.
Griner started the season as Atlanta’s starting center. However, after a mid-season injury, she was shifted to a bench role. The 34-year-old served as the Dream’s backup center the rest of the way.
In 39 games played this past season (25 starts), Griner produced averages of 9.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 20.8 minutes per game — all career-low numbers for the 10-time All-Star.
Griner’s deal with the Dream was for one year, now making her an unrestricted free agent. If Atlanta does not offer her an extension, Griner will need to negotiate a new contract with another WNBA team ahead of her 13th season.
On Wednesday, the two-time Defensive Player of the Year took to social media to announce some news away from basketball. As she navigates through another offseason, Griner decided to start her own YouTube channel.
“We on YouTube yo!! Go to my bio or story for the link to my first vlog. Can’t wait to share more content with y’all,” Griner posted on Instagram, sharing a previous of her first YouTube video.
Griner’s first-ever YouTube vlog was posted at around 2:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday. It’s a typical day-in-the-life video as Griner takes her fans through her activities.
Griner is currently in Miami, Florida, for the second season of the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league. Apart from preparing for an upcoming game, Griner’s first vlog also featured a trip to Best Buy. She purchased some equipment for an upcoming gaming stream.
Griner promised more offseason behind-the-scenes content for her subscribers in her next vlogs.
Griner, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2013 WNBA Draft, holds career averages of 16.8 points on 55.8% shooting, 7.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 2.4 blocks in 354 games played.
