To the surprise of WNBA fans around the country, Dallas Wings teammates Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd revealed this week that they’re no longer dating.

When the Wings drafted Fudd with the No. 1 pick earlier this year, some fans questioned if her relationship with Bueckers played a role in that decision. The former UConn stars were even asked about their dynamic during a press conference.

“Paige announced last year on TikTok that y’all were a couple,” Kevin Sherrington of The Dallas Morning News said. “I’m wondering if that’s still the case, and if so, have you talked to other couples in the league about how they negotiate that dynamic?”

Bueckers eventually released this statement: “Me and Azzi have always been the utmost professional. We’ve always conducted ourselves as such, and we’ve never let anything that happens off the court carry onto the court. That’s what we continue to do.”

Fast forward to this November, and Fudd revealed on her podcast that she’s no longer dating Bueckers.

“Paige and I have something that we want to share with everyone,” Fudd said. “We are no longer together.”

Bueckers, who was on Fudd’s podcast, said their breakup occurred before the 2026 WNBA Draft.

“We were not together before she got drafted. So all of those narratives can go to bed,” Bueckers said, via WRKO. “She was not drafted because she was my girlfriend. She was drafted because she deserved it. She’s an amazing human, amazing basketball player. And we’re still friends. We’re still cool.”

Any concerns for the Dallas Wings?

Bueckers made it clear that her breakup with Fudd won’t negatively impact the Wings in any capacity.

“Me and Azzi have always been the utmost professional,” Bueckers said. “We’ve always conducted ourselves as such, and we’ve never let anything that happens off the court carry onto the court. That’s what we continue to do. Me and Azzi are not new to this. We’ve been doing this for a long time. We have countless reps at it. We have a lot of experience with it, so we will continue to use that experience to show up and be professionals, great teammates, great leaders, the hardest workers, and continue to show up and do our job and help the Dallas Wings win basketball games.”

The Wings should enter the 2027 season with high expectations in large part because of Bueckers and Fudd’s potential on the hardwood.
