WNBA superstar shares encouraging message after ugly injury

Las Vegas Aces fans can probably relax after center A'ja Wilson exited Tuesday's road game against the New York Liberty following an awkward fall. 

Wilson, 28, indicated she didn't suffer a major injury after undergoing an MRI on her injured right wrist Wednesday morning.

"Welp! Nothing wakes you up like the sound of an MRI machine lol!" Wilson wrote in a Threads post. "But just wanna say thank you for all the prayers! NYL thank you so much for the quick help & privacy I truly appreciate it to my squad thank you for preventing any crash out lol! God has a plan that I'll never question. We are gonna be alright." 

The Aces are still exercising caution. ESPN's Kendra Andrews reported Wilson is questionable for Thursday's road game against the Washington Mystics at 7:30 p.m. ET on Amazon Prime Video.  

The team probably doesn't want to take any chances. Wilson suffered the injury six minutes into the second quarter of Tuesday's 87-78 loss when she landed on her right arm after going for a layup. 

She remained on the floor for a few minutes but tried to stay in the game. After playing a few possessions, she exited and was ruled out at halftime. 

"Err on the side of safety with her," Aces head coach Becky Hammon said in a postgame news conference. "Big picture, our season is bigger than just this one game, so we want to make sure she's not putting herself at risk of injuring anything or damaging anything." 

This season, Wilson — a three-time league MVP — has been one of few positives for the Aces (9-10), who are fifth in the Western Conference. Through her first 16 games, she ranked second in the league in points (20.7) and rebounds (8.7) and was tied for first in blocks (2.4)

The Aces clearly can't afford to lose her for a significant amount of time, and her injury update suggests they probably won't.
