WNBA Team Announces Roster Decision Before Indiana Fever Game

The Indiana Fever head into Tuesday night’s matchup with the Dallas Wings looking to notch their second straight win after dropping two in a row.

It’s been a whirlwind season for Indiana, which sits just 2.5 games behind the New York Liberty and Atlanta Dream for first place in the Eastern Conference, despite star guard Caitlin Clark missing 19 games.

And Clark hasn’t been the only absence. Sophie Cunningham missed time early in the season, while the team recently lost Sydney Colson (torn left ACL) and Aari McDonald (broken bone in right foot) for the remainder of the year.

Still, the focus is firmly on Tuesday’s contest — and just hours before tip-off, at 10 a.m. ET, the Wings announced they had signed guard Grace Berger for the rest of the season.

"The Dallas Wings have signed Grace Berger to a rest of season contract," the team announced on social media. "Berger is available to play at Indiana tonight."

Who is Grace Berger?

The Fever selected Berger, 26 No. 7 overall in the 2023 WNBA draft. The 6-foot guard appeared in 47 regular-season games over the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Waived by the Fever in February, she was claimed by the Minnesota Lynx but failed to make the roster out of training camp. After several weeks as a free agent, Berger signed a rest-of-season hardship contract with the Los Angeles Sparks, only to be waived three days later.

On July 16, Berger joined the Dallas Wings on a seven-day hardship contract. She went on to sign two more consecutive seven-day deals — the maximum allowed per player in a season — before the Wings opted to keep her for the rest of the season on Tuesday.

So far this year, Berger has appeared in six games for Dallas, starting once, and is averaging 2.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game with the team.
