We're not even a month into the 2025 WNBA season, and yet, one team's coaching staff is reportedly being investigated.
On Wednesday afternoon, Li Yueru of the Seattle Storm reportedly requested a trade. The talented center from China hasn't received that much playing time this season. She's averaging 9.1 minutes per contest to be exact.
It's certainly possible Yueru requested a trade due to her role on the Storm. As if that situation isn't concerning enough, there are rumors swirling around about Seattle's staff.
According to women's basketball reporter Khristina Williams, the Storm are being investigated by the WNBA.
"Per sources: There is currently an investigation being launched into the Seattle Storm coaching staff by the WNBA and league security," Williams wrote on X this Wednesday.
Forbes contributor Roberta F. Rodrigues is also reporting that Seattle is under investigation.
"I will not be taking part in the reporting of the current Seattle Storm investigation. All I will say is yes, there is an investigation underway. But my experience reporting on something similar last year drained me. I don’t want to deal with that," Rodrigues said.
The severity of this investigation in Seattle is unclear at this time.
A statement has not yet been released by the Storm. Perhaps they're waiting to gather more information.
The Storm are coming off an 83-77 victory over the Dallas Wings to improve their record to 4-4.
