WNBA to Punish Aliyah Boston After Indiana Fever Game

Aliyah Boston finished with 14 points, nine rebounds, six assists, five steals and two blocks in an all-around effort to help the Indiana Fever defeat the Portland Fire on Friday, 112-98. However, it was far from a perfect game for the All-Star center.

In particular, Boston struggled in the third quarter of the game. She didn't attempt a shot and went scoreless despite playing more than seven minutes in the period.

Making matters worse for Boston, she received a technical foul with 4:42 remaining in the quarter. She had a highly physical and tense exchange with Fire forward Serah Williams, prompting a double technical foul.

The incident occurred after Boston appeared to hit Williams, leading the Fire player to retaliate and push the Fever star. The two stared at each other before their teammates and the referees stepped in to separate them.

It was Boston's second technical foul of the season. She received her first tech in June during a game against the New York Liberty.

According to the WNBA's rules, a player's first three technical fouls each carry a $500 fine. The fourth through seventh, meanwhile, are punishable by a $1,000 fine.

The eighth technical foul carries a $1,500 fine and a one-game suspension.

Even more interesting was Serah Williams and Aliyah Boston getting into it.

Considering how careful Boston has been when it comes to avoiding technical and flagrant fouls, it's hard to see her reaching the limit that will get her suspended.

Indiana improved to 19-10 on the season with its latest win, climbing to No. 4 in the WNBA standings. The team has 15 games left.
