WNBA to Punish Atlanta Dream Star Naz Hillmon

Atlanta Dream forward Naz Hillmon will be fined $500 for her technical foul during their game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Monday night.

For the second time in five days, the Sparks welcomed the Dream on their home floor at Crypto.com Arena. It was a rematch of their previous matchup on Thursday, as Atlanta recorded a 78-71 win on the road to keep their No. 4 spot in the standings.

But Hillmon seemed overcome with emotion during one sequence in the game. She was called for a technical foul at the 5:20 mark in the second quarter. This was immediately after she was whistled for a loose ball foul.

The former Michigan standout will be fined $500 for committing her second technical foul of the season.

Her first tech came during their July 2 game against the Washington Mystics.

Even though this was Hillmon’s second technical foul this season, she’s still on the bracket for the minimum fine of $500. Players are required to pay this amount for their first three technical fouls, under the new CBA.

The penalty increases to $1,000 per tech for their fourth to seventh, plus a letter from the WNBA after the fifth. From the eighth technical foul onward, the offender will be penalized with a $1,500 fine and a one-game suspension.

Despite this slight hiccup during the game, the 6-foot-2 forward still finished with 12 points 5-of-8 shooting, along with seven rebounds.

But the brightest star on the court was their superstar Angel Reese, who set the single-game record for most rebounds with 26 along with her 10 points, three assists and three steals.

The 25-13 Dream will be back in action on Friday for a home game against the Portland Fire.
