Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky delivered one of their most impressive wins of the season on Saturday, taking down the powerhouse Minnesota Lynx 87–81 at Wintrust Arena. But it wasn’t just the final score that had fans talking—it was what happened after the buzzer that really lit up social media.
Following the upset victory, the Sky’s social media team fired off a spicy post aimed directly at Lynx guard Courtney Williams, who previously threw shade at Chicago on her podcast.
“y’all ain’t beat Chicago???” the Sky’s official X account posted shortly after the win.
It didn’t take long for fans—and fellow WNBA players—to catch the reference. Dallas Wings guard Dijonai Carrington, who appeared on the now-infamous podcast episode, chimed in with a laughing response.
“ayoooooo nah yall funny af for this,” Carrington replied.
The backstory? Last month, Williams hosted Carrington on her show and mocked the Wings’ early-season struggles, sarcastically questioning who they had even beaten.
“Oh, the Wings are 1-8. Who did y’all beat? For real, who did y’all really beat? Chicago? You ain’t beat Chicago?” Williams said at the time.
Fast forward to Saturday: the Sky beat Minnesota, and Williams—who had taken the jab at Chicago—finished with just 13 points on 33.3% shooting, her lowest-scoring game in her last five outings. The internet didn’t forget, and clearly, neither did the Sky.
On top of the revenge energy, it was another huge night for rookie sensation Angel Reese. She logged her eighth consecutive double-double, dropping 19 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to fuel Chicago’s second straight win.
As expected, the Chi-Town Barbie marked the moment with her go-to postgame catchphrase, writing:
“DUBS IN THE CHATTTT,” on X, where the phrase quickly began trending.
She even echoed the same line during her postgame interview—cementing it as part of her growing brand.
The Sky will face the Lynx again on Monday, and with tensions already simmering, don’t expect things to cool down. Reese and Chicago are on a roll, and receipts are definitely being kept.
