Indiana Fever star Sydney Colson did not let a fan comment go unchecked on social media, as she clapped back with a spicy response when called a “Karen.”
Ver at X, a fan called out to the Indiana Fever, particularly to players Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham, and alleged how their joining the team made them “Karens” on social media. Colson did not let this pass, however.
Sydney Colson did not hold back and clapped back at the fan, saying: “Ciara. Shutup and 1-2 step outta my mentions. I’m the same I’ve always been & so are you, oddly enough, bc clearly you’re still too dumb to read text and know what sarcasm is.”

The fan comment indicated that joining the Indiana Fever had resulted in negative behavior changes, particularly in team members Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham, as well as returning head coach Stephanie White.
The Indiana Fever’s season has been characterized by unpredictability, oscillating between periods of precise ball movement and swift pace, and instances of poor execution, particularly when confronted with aggressive, switching defenses that focus on the ball.
Opposing teams have frequently employed traps on early offensive actions, denied entry passes to the primary ball-handler, and challenged the Fever to succeed through secondary playmakers. This strategy has highlighted the team’s spacing and turnover vulnerabilities when their initial offensive options are neutralized.
For Colson, her 2025 season has been cut short after she sustained a season-ending injury. During a game against the Phoenix Mercury, Colson tore her ACl in her left knee and has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign.
The Indiana Fever’s ongoing frustration with WNBA officiating flared again Friday night, despite the team’s 76-75 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Odyssey Sims’ late game-winner. Veteran guard Sydney Colson, sidelined for the season with a torn ACL, took to social media to defend All-Star teammate Kelsey Mitchell, arguing that Mitchell endures excessive physical contact without receiving the same foul calls as other stars.
“At a certain point in the league’s existence, ima need for Kelsey Mitchell to get the same whistle as other stars,” Colson wrote on X. “The way she gets assaulted is insane actually & I’ve considered roping my sister in to have her office pursue charges.”

Caitlin Clark was quick to respond to her teammate: “Careful you’re gonna get fined!”

Sydney Colson’s comments add to a season-long pattern of complaints from the Fever about officiating standards. Head coach Stephanie White has been fined for public criticism, including a May outburst after a narrow loss to the New York Liberty and a June rant following a bruising win over the Connecticut Sun.
