2 Intriguing Questions After WWE’s Survivor Series: WarGames

WWE’s Survivor Series: WarGames has come and gone, and as with the conclusion of many PLEs, fans departed the event pondering what will happen next. The five-on-five WarGames double steel cage matches highlighted the night. Team Rhea Ripley won the women’s battle, and Team Paul Heyman emerged victorious on the men’s side. Survivor Series was also the last PLE for future WWE Hall of Famer John Cena, who lost the Intercontinental Championship to Dominik Mysterio.

The action was ultimately not just about the competitors on the card. There were numerous twists, turns, and surprises towards the beginning and conclusion of the show. Here are a couple of questions to ponder following Survivor Series.

1) What Is Next For The Judgement Day?

During that IC title bout between Cena and Mysterio, the entire Judgement Day would get involved. After overcoming attacks from Raquel Rodriguez, Roxanne Perez, Finn Balor, and JD McDonough, Cena regained control of the contest. The 17-time world champ then ducked an attempted belt shot from Dirty Dom and followed with an Attitude Adjustment. The referee had been knocked out at this point, leaving the door open for one more assist attempt on Mysterio’s behalf.

Liv Morgan is back in WWE for the first time since separating her shoulder in June. It will be interesting to see what happens with The Judgement Day moving forward. Perez became an official member of The Judgement Day during Morgan’s absence, which will likely add to the friction that already existed. It seemed Perez was perhaps driving a wedge between Morgan and Mysterio, and the drama felt encouraged by Balor.

There is also the Rodriguez side of things, who was Morgan’s partner before Perez. There could be a scenario where Big Mami Cool has to choose between the two, which could serve as a launching point for a Judgment Day split. Balor brought Perez to the group, so if other members plan to exile her, that could lead to his departure as well.

2) Who Is The Mystery Man?

Now for the question of the night that arose during the main event. The men’s WarGames match would close out the night. The contest featured Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre, and Brock Lesnar against World Champion CM Punk, WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and The Usos.

After much hard-hitting action that featured an F5 through the announce table and brass knuckled Superman punches, Punk attempted to put the match to rest. Paul received a GTS from Punk, but Breakker broke up the ensuing pin attempt. No one was ready for what would happen next.

Following the attack from the mystery person, Breakker would deliver the devastating spear to Punk to secure victory. While this concluded the night, it obviously left more questions than answers.

End Of My WWE Survivor Series Rant

There were many talking points following Saturday’s PLE, but Liv Morgan’s return and the mystery man dominated social media threads. Many are predicting and hoping that Morgan and Mysterio will split from The Judgement Day. Based on the tension that existed before Morgan’s five-month absence, that is a more than reasonable theory.

Speaking of theories, Austin Theory has become the WWE universe’s popular choice as the mystery man behind the mask (which I agree with). During the time that Theory was Mr. Money In The Bank, he and Heyman had multiple backstage segments that teased an alliance. If Theory were to be revealed as the masked superstar and join The Vision, it would bring those previous segments full circle.

Being that the mystery man delivered a stomp to Punk, Seth Rollins’ name essentially had to be mentioned amongst potential culprits. That one, however, I doubt for multiple reasons: the fake injury angle has already happened, and it is simply too obvious. The Rollins injury also appears legit, so he is unlikely to be the man who attacked Punk.

WWE fans are eager to see what happens next with both of these stories. A Judgment Day segment is likely to occur sooner rather than later, but we may be left speculating over the masked superstar a bit longer. It should be an exciting ride to conclude the year.
