3 Call-Ups WWE Should Make ASAP
Jerome Miron-Imagn Images

WWE held its Crown Jewel PLE this past Saturday, and it featured some of the biggest stars the company has to offer, particularly from the men’s division. Roman Reigns, The Usos, John Cena, AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, and Cody Rhodes all made their presence felt in Perth, Australia. Except for CM Punk, Randy Orton, and Drew McIntyre, this basically accounted for every top star on the men’s side. That also means that every top star is essentially 40 years old or older, with Rollins knocking on the door at 39.

With that in mind, it’s probably time for an infusion of younger talent onto WWE’s main roster. Here are three main roster call-ups that should happen as soon as possible.

1) Je’Von Evans

The Young OG, Je’Von Evans made two straight appearances on SmackDown in recent weeks. First, he answered the Sami Zayn WWE United States Title open challenge on the September 26th episode, losing by pinfall after a hard-fought battle. The following week, Evans teamed with Rey Fenix in a tag-team victory over Los Garza.

Particularly with that US title match, the crowd really seemed to get behind Evans, as the Orlando fans were on the edge of their seats with every near fall. A standing ovation was received post-match, as the veteran Zayn raised the Young OG’s hand and encouraged the crowd to continue cheering for the up-and-coming star. Zayn realizes it’s time to push Evans, and hopefully, WWE management sees that as well.

2) Oba Femi

Oba Femi, who is known as “The Ruler,” is one of the most dominant NXT champions in WWE history. He carried the title for 263 days before suffering defeat to Ricky Saints at No Mercy. Before that incredible run, Femi was an Iron Survivor Challenge winner and the longest reigning North American Champion at 272 days. The 6’6 310-pound powerhouse has established himself as a force in NXT and has the makings of a star on the main roster.

The loss to Saints could have been a means to promote Femi. It would be similar to when Stephanie Vaquer dropped her title to Jacy Jane three days before Vaquer’s call-up announcement. It would make sense, as there isn’t much left for The Ruler to accomplish on NXT after those two title runs. Femi’s future should become clearer in the upcoming weeks.

3) Trick Williams

The call-up for Trick Williams seems long overdue at this point, as there have been several teases of him joining the main roster for over a year now. He made multiple appearances on SmackDown in 2024, including saving his former tag team partner, Carmelo Hayes, from an attack by A-Town Down Under.

The crowd screamed “Whoop That Trick,” as Williams took out both Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. The momentum has only grown since, as crowds still chant that saying even after the heel turn.

Williams also falls in the “what else is left to accomplish on NXT” category. He is a former TNA Champion, a two-time NXT Champion, a North American Champion, and the 2023 Iron Survivor Challenge winner. His in-ring abilities have improved, along with his mic skills and charisma. There’s still room for growth, but Williams has done more than enough in his time in WWE so far to warrant a spot on either Raw or SmackDown.

End Of My WWE Rant

We all love our WWE legends, but there has to come a time when they step to the side and make room for the new crop of talent. Management may have to make those tough decisions, given that aging stars aren’t always ready and willing to pass the torch. No one wants another Undertaker passing out as he makes his way backstage incident.

There are many young, talented stars chomping at the bit, eager for their chance on the biggest stage. Evans, Femi, and Williams all seem to have the makings of future main eventers. Crowds are yelling “Bouncy” at the beginning of Evans’ entrance and “Whoop That Trick” during the entirety of Williams’. With Femi, crowds are saying “Hooh” at the end of every line during his promos, similar to the “Yeet” or “What” for Jey Uso and Stone Cold Steven Austin, respectively.

The WWE universe is ready to get behind newer stars on the main stage, and hopefully, we will see more of them sooner than later. Bron Breakker looks to be the young star who is up next, as he decided this past Monday on Raw that he had his own vision in mind. Hopefully, the three men mentioned in this rant will have that same sort of opportunity on either Raw or SmackDown in the coming months.
