3 Takeaways From WWE Survivor Series: WarGames
Asuka drops Iyo Sky during the triple threat women’s championship match of the WWE Fastlane pro wrestling event Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

WWE had its last PLE of 2025 on Saturday with Survivor Series: WarGames, bookended by the two titular matches.

To open the night, AJ Lee, Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss defeated Becky Lynch, Asuka, Kairi Sane, Nia Jax and Lash Legend. In the main event, Drew McIntyre, Brock Lesnar, Logan Paul, Bronson Reed, and Bron Breakker defeated CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and the Usos.

In between were two championship bouts that had differing outcomes. Dominik Mysterio regained the Intercontinental title from John Cena thanks to a returning Liv Morgan, while Stephanie Vaquer remained the Women’s World Champion against Nikki Bella.

Here are some lessons learned from the event.

Women’s WarGames Is A Pointless Glorified House Match

Here is a stat about WarGames that will shock some new fans: after Saturday, female heel teams have never won the match in four tries.

That is a sign of bad and tired booking. How can fans care about these supposed “blood feuds” when they know the faces will win 100% of the time? It is as if WWE always wants the good girls to have a “cute” moment together at the end of the match. Granted, it makes the crowd happy, whether to pump them up or send them home happy, as in a house show, but it gets stale after a while.

Look at the first men’s WarGames match. It was the main event, and it ended with the Bloodline, heels at the time, winning. It had an aura of doom and dread, as Roman Reigns and his clan stood tall, reasserting their dominance. Of course, then, there was the men’s match on Saturday that put the faces and heels at 2-2 apiece. Is it not hard to ask for a similar variety in outcome for the women?

“The Last Time Is Now” Tournament Feels Bloated In Hindsight

John Cena gets the crowd excited Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, during WWE WrestlePalooza at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

As can be gleaned from the intro, there were only four matches on Saturday. None of them were the semifinals of “The Last Time Is Now” tournament to determine John Cena’s final opponent.

Looking back, having 16 men was a bad idea. There should have been just eight men, four on each brand. Granted, it would not have looked as extravagant, but at least the structuring would have been simpler. Quarterfinals in the first two weeks, semis in the go-home week, and finals at Survivor Series. Vignettes and promos, then, from both Cena and his opponent would air before December 13.

Bron Breakker Should Win The World Heavyweight Championship Sooner Than Later

Bron Breakker has what WWE wants in a Superstar. He is muscular yet athletic, related to former wrestlers, and he is, to borrow from Lex Luger, “The Total Package”.

While Breakker’s mic skills admittedly leave much to be desired, Paul Heyman is the perfect manager for him, just as Brock Lesnar immensely flourished under the “Advocate”. Pinning Punk on Saturday surely should only serve to elevate his profile.

It is time to be blunt. Breakker should get a title shot, and he should win. Seth Rollins will seethe upon seeing his bodyguard-turned-betrayer claim the gold that he was forced to vacate on the operating table. Bronson Reed, meanwhile, will start having sideways looks, wanting glory himself.

The downfall of The Vision will be one of the most mesmerizing feuds in 2026, and the World Heavyweight title will be centerstage.

End Of My Survivor Series Rant

Speaking of Breakker and Reed, a hooded figure helped their side win WarGames. Based on the moves he made, it can be none other than Rollins, who is somehow still aiding the men who attacked him last month.

More answers will come after Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII, as WWE prepares for the road to the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. Until then, all fans can do is watch and speculate.
