The RAW after WWE WrestleMania has often been renowned for being a show jam packed full of surprises, debuts, title changes, and more, though it has lessened in terms of its importance and special feeling in recent years. The RAW after WrestleMania 41 sought to change that, as the show was littered with multiple shocks up and down the card.
WrestleMania 41 was a mixed bag of a show for many fans, so WWE had some big pressure on their hands to make Monday Night RAW a noteworthy show that set fans up for an exciting road to the next PLE on the calendar, Backlash 2025. We will take a look at some of the biggest and most surprising moments from Monday Night RAW in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 21, capping off WrestleMania 41 week with multiple angles to set up the next year of WWE programming, some of which shocked fans.
Even though Rusev’s WWE comeback was talked about in the rumor mill online in the months leading up to WrestleMania 41 season, no one could be too sure when The Bulgarian Brute would resurface on WWE programming. Prior to an impromptu World Tag Team Championship match between brand new champions The New Day and Alpha Academy on Monday Night RAW, Rusev made his return to a huge pop.
He ran out and decimated Otis & Akira Tozawa Alpha Academy, making a statement upon his WWE comeback on the RAW after WrestleMania. He will be hoping that this WWE run goes better than his last, and better than the bulk of his time spent in AEW too.
Iyo Sky emerged on the RAW after WrestleMania following on from her defense of the Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 41 where she defeated both Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair, but she was quickly interrupted with the surprise appearance of NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer. The pair competed in an impromptu match in front of an elated audience, but it was cut short with the arrival of both Roxanne Perez and Giulia, who attacked Sky & Vaquer.
Rhea Ripley emerged to even the odds, sending the NXT wrestlers packing. Seeing such a heavy focus on the thriving NXT women’s division was a shock to see, and it could hint at some call-ups in the very near future for the main roster women’s division, with Perez already steadily transitioning to the main roster over the last few months.
Becky Lynch’s WWE return didn’t go to plan on Monday Night RAW after WrestleMania, as she and Lyra Valkyria lost the Women’s Tag Team Titles straight back to Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez, just 24 hours after winning them at WrestleMania 41. Valkyria was the one who was pinned on RAW, and Lynch didn’t take too kindly to this.
She snapped after the bell, issuing out a vicious attack on her former ally and protege. Lynch’s heel turn here likely answers the question as to who attacked Bayley prior to WrestleMania 41, ruling her out of the show.
Monday Night RAW closed with the arrival of a new name to the main event scene. Seth Rollins & Paul Heyman attempted to address the crowd following their shock alignment in the main event of WrestleMania 41 Saturday, but both CM Punk and Roman Reigns emerged to try and enact some revenge on the two new allies. However, there was a ‘Plan B’ in store for Paul Heyman’s former two associates.
Former Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker emerged out of nowhere to spear Roman Reigns and CM Punk, taking out both men before it became clear that he was in cahoots with both Rollins and Heyman, becoming a brand new ‘Paul Heyman Guy’, something few saw coming.
