If there’s one match the average fan is excited for at WrestleMania 42, it is CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship. The main event of Mania: Night Two features two of WWE’s top Superstars, but it’s the genuine element of animosity that intrigues fans.

We knew that things would get personal quickly. However, the Voice of the Voiceless left the OTC speechless in their last encounter by mentioning Sika Anoa’i, Reigns’ deceased Hall of Fame father. The 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble winner will appear on the upcoming episode of RAW.

The OTC will respond to Punk’s comments about his father. Here, we delve into four ways Reigns could retaliate against the World Heavyweight Champion.

#4. Roman Reigns Brings Up CM Punk’s Father

Now that Punk has involved Reigns’ family, it only makes sense for the OTC to return the favor. Hence, we could see Reigns refer to the Straight Edge Superstar’s relationship with his father. As many avid fans might recall, Chris Jericho infamously brought up Punk’s blood relatives during their thrilling feud in 2012.

Punk adopts a Straight Edge lifestyle, which is an integral part of his onscreen character and personal life. However, his father had personal troubles with alcohol abuse; Y2J also alluded to this during his feud with Punk. An angered Roman Reigns could also adopt a similar strategy in response to the World Champion’s personal comments.

#3. Reigns Tasks The Usos With Assaulting Punk

When CM Punk boldly claimed that he would bury Roman Reigns alongside his dead father, he provoked The Usos, too. Jimmy and Jey Uso considered Punk their friend, but they were upset with the World Champion’s controversial comments about their uncle.

The Usos demanded an apology from Punk on RAW this past week. The Straight Edge Superstar apologized for the wrong reasons, resulting in Jimmy shoving Punk to the mat. Although this angle could have been a one-off thing, the Usos could become an important part of the Reigns and Punk saga.

The OTC has sent the Usos to do his dirty work in the past. Jimmy and Jey were acting on their own accord this week. Judging by the results, Reigns could take matters into his own hands and order his cousins to take out Punk.

#2. The OTC Costs AJ Lee the Women’s Intercontinental Championship

AJ Lee will defend her newly won Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Bayley next week. She won the title less than two weeks ago at WWE Elimination Chamber, but she may end up having a short title reign due to her husband’s controversial actions.

The OTC’s iconic theme song could hit during Lee’s match with Bayley. Roman Reigns doesn’t physically have to come out; the music alone could distract Punk’s wife and cost her the Women’s IC Championship. If Reigns does take such a step, he would cross a line that would certainly turn the tables on the Straight Edge Superstar.

#1. Roman Reigns Executes a “Final Boss” Style Beatdown on CM Punk

We haven’t seen Roman Reigns and CM Punk get physical yet. While WWE could be intentionally doing this to save the action for WrestleMania, Punk’s comments about the OTC’s late father might warrant a physical beatdown.

Fans have not forgotten The Rock’s infamous beatdown on Cody Rhodes in March 2024 on the Road to WrestleMania. The Final Boss left the American Nightmare in a pool of his own blood. The OTC could take a page from his cousin’s book. Reigns could have the Usos lead Punk backstage, where he could take matters into his own hands and unleash a heinous assault on the champion.
