The landscape of professional wrestling felt like it shifted on Saturday night as arguably the biggest man in the industry made his return to WWE. Omos made a shocking appearance at Triplemanía XXXIII in Mexico City.

The event, held on August 16, 2025, marked the first Triplemanía since WWE officially acquired Mexican promotion AAA earlier this month—and Omos’ reappearance was the exclamation point on a historic evening.
The 7-foot Nigerian giant had not been seen on WWE programming in approximately a year. Those who had followed his run in Japan knew that WWE still employed him, but many wondered whether Omos’ run in WWE had quietly ended. His comeback on AAA’s biggest stage brought an answer to many of those questions.
His return was huge moment in the opening match of the event, a Copa Bardahl. In many ways, the match was like WWE's Royal Rumble. It included 14 participants who joined the action at timed intervals. The big difference was that eliminations could occur by pinfall, submission, or being thrown over the top rope.
“OMOS is back let’s go!!!” one fan wrote, while another added: “Mexico hasn’t seen anything like this!” Others called for him to be featured more prominently going forward: “Now have him appear weekly. He deserves TV time.”
Omos’ return might not just have been a nostalgic pop for fans and a way to introduce something totally unique to the TripleMania event, but it might be a strategic business move by WWE. He's an attraction like few others and now that he's gained some experience overseas, he might be ready to return to WWE's main stage in a more prominent role.
WWE’s acquisition of AAA, finalized on August 1, 2025, could have been the catalyst to get him back on programming. Whether he stays in AAA to create crossover appeal and attract new viewers isn't known. He could be used exclusively in the promotion.
Omos brings a unique presence that WWE seems to be using to elevate AAA under its ownership. It looks like a savvy move, and if the fan reaction at the event means anything, WWE may be onto something.
