AEW Collision Preview (1/17/26) – Maximum Carnage Collision

AEW Collision this upcoming week takes a break from its Arlington residence with a special Maximum Carnage edition from Phoenix, Arizona. Following Dynamite Maximum Carnage, there’s going to be plenty of fallout, overspill, and potential dovetailing.

At the time of writing, one match is confirmed, yet there’s plenty to speculate on. Check back for updates.

Post-Worlds End, we’ve already seen new partnerships, directions, and feuds growing through the January frost like new green shoots. Plus, the quality of action isn’t dropping.

Eddie Kingston and Ortiz vs The Grizzled Young Veterans

Since returning from injury, Eddie Kingston has primarily been a feature of Collision. Slowly and surely, the Mad King seems to be regaining confidence. After an excellent but failed attempt to beat Samoa Joe at Winter is Coming, Kingston has been preoccupied with the Grizzled Young Veterans (GYV). Kingston beat both men in singles competition, but the tag team specialists are not so easily dissuaded.

The returning Ortiz, one of Kingston’s best friends and former tag team partner, has come to even the score. This past Collision, after weeks of standoffs and teases, the match is now official.

Rumors suggest that the Grizzled Young Veterans will be a regular feature of AEW’s tag division in 2026. After spending 2025 primarily on ROH, if the GYV can deliver, like the GOA and others before them, they will make their mark. At their peak, GYV are hard-hitting and relentless. Kingston and Ortiz will fight. They should be prepared to grit their teeth.

Speculation

There’s plenty of Don Callis Family business to address on the Saturday show. Don Callis made it clear that Kyle Fletcher’s destiny is with the TNT Championship. 3-3 against Mark Briscoe, Callis wants Fletcher to clinch the decider and regain the championship. Are we seeing, like with a former friend and Family member, Will Ospreay, a change of alignment?

On Dynamite, we had the debut of Jake Doyle as the latest member of the Don Callis Family. Then, later, the return of Andrade El Idolo later in the night. Don’t be shocked to see either a debut or/re-debut match on Collision.

Last Saturday night ended with a big brawl between The Conglomeration and Don Callis’ Family members. Are we going to get a six or eight-man tag?

We also saw the AEW debut of Zayda Steel with SkyFlight. A former MLW and Marigold competitor, as well as WWE ID’s first signee, you can find out here why Steel is the Real Deal and what she has to offer.

Taking a beating from Megan Bayne, it would not be shocking to see her singles debut against either member of the MegaProblems. Like new signees, Maya World and Hyan, Steel may become a weekly fixture on Saturday in the singles or tag team division.
