AEW continues to push the boundaries

AEW's "Double or Nothing" pay-per-view was a massive success from a production standpoint.

Every match consisted of elite wrestling. Most of the storylines building up to the face-offs were good enough to attract the fanbase's investment. The crowd was electric, and there were some good surprises and breathtaking spots.

That's what AEW does. It provides elite in-ring production. It captivates the fanbase. And it pushes boundaries.

Having Adam Copeland jump off a 15-foot cage to land on Malakai Black while tied to a table with barbed wire was a risky move. The spot paid off, though. It got a pop from the crowd. It's pulling numbers on social media. And it was another moment of character development for Copeland, who has enjoyed multiple unhinged moments since joining the company.

Of course, this match was only a mid-card bout, which meant AEW had to continue finding new levels to go to. Enter Darby Allin with a flamethrower, setting Jack Perry on fire near the entrance.

For some, these spots are too much. They're high-risk moments that are great at the moment but could ruin careers or quickly tarnish the company's budding reputation.

Yet, these moments are what sets AEW apart. After decades of the PG-rated WWE, there's now a company putting on matches for grown adults. There's a place where wrestlers can push the envelope and see how much their bodies can take. There's a throwback to the era of ECW and Attitude WWE, a time that defined wrestling for millions of fans.

AEW is an alternative promotion for wrestling fans. It wouldn't be doing its job if it wasn't trying to test limits, push boundaries and get people talking.

"Double or Nothing" was a success. Not because of the dangerous spots throughout the night, but because of the risks taken on previous shows, week in and week out, that have continued to grow a rabid fanbase.

These latest moments of madness will only serve to push the company further forward.
