AEW Dynamite was live from the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland, where the fans made their voices heard. Bryan Danielson kicked things off, and as soon as his music hit, the pop was insane. The “Yes” chants were loud as Danielson made his way to the commentary desk for the night. As AEW gets ready for Sunday’s Forbidden Door PPV, they made sure that this “go-home” show had all of the bells and whistles.
Will Ospreay came out first, and as expected, he received a massive pop from the crowd, as it’s a homecoming of sorts, being that the event was in the U.K. After the crowd gave him a big welcome, Ospreay played to the crowd and gave a little story of his experience there in Scotland. He was genuinely excited to be there, and it came out during his promo.
After Ospreay began to talk about the Death Riders and after speaking of leaving with some flesh after Sunday’s unsanctioned steel cage match, the Death Riders’ music hit, and Jon Moxley made his way into the ring. After all of the Death Riders enter the ring, Ospreay challenges Moxley to do things himself instead of always relying on his crew to help him out.
Kevin Knight and Speedball Mike Bailey entered the ring to attack The Death Riders, and moments later, Hiroshi Tanahashi’s music hit, and he made his way into the ring.
The match began instantly after the brawl that played out with Ospreay in the ring. The six-man tag match was chaotic, with bodies flying everywhere throughout the match. The clear stars in this match were Bailey and Knight, who continue to show why they are the future of the company.
In the middle of the match, Gabe Kidd and members of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Bullet Club interfered in the match, but it wasn’t enough to stop Tanahashi from landing a splash from the top rope and getting the pin.
Winners: Hiroshi Tanahashi, Speedball Mike Bailey, and Kevin Knight
After the match, Ospreay came back into the arena with a body bag and laid the unknown person down. When he turned around, he was met by two super kicks from the Young Bucks. Once the Bucks opened up the body bag, it was Darby Allin, and he began to attack the Bucks. Then The OPS came into the ring and all hell broke loose.
After Christian Cage began to get into his heel promo, Adam Copeland took the mic and reminded Cage that they were once the greatest tag team in wrestling. Copeland delved into the fact that Cage is an as*hole, and sometimes you need one of those. Cage said he went deep inside his soul, and he found himself. He found out that he is perfect just the way he is. Cage said he and Copeland aren’t on the same page but are on the same book. After delivering a good promo, Cage extended his hand and Copelan shook it.
Luchasaurus then came into the ring and attacked Copeland and then choke-slammed Cage. Both Copeland and Cage were laid out in the middle of the ring.
-FTR vs. Bandido & Brody King: The match’s time expired, making it a draw. Then, Tony Khan announced that The Hurt Syndicate would face FTR and Bandido at the Forbidden Door PPPV in a triple threat match.
