AEW Dynamite Preview (4/1/26) – Omega vs. MJF Contract Signing
AEW

April Fool’s Day and when AEW Dynamite returns to Winnipeg, hometown boy Kenny Omega signs the contract to face AEW World champion, MJF, at AEW Dynasty. Will there be a punchline? Well, given the added stipulation, we’ll see.

Given the day, the location, and the radio silence since the Royal Rumble about one Chris Jericho, could the man of a thousand and one nicknames return for one final run?

We could speculate on various storyline follow-ups, next steps and matches. However, with confirmation of one big contest pitting two of the best British wrestlers alive today against each other, let’s get to the good stuff.

Check back throughout the week for all the latest updates and insights.

PAC vs. Will Ospreay

Will Ospreay is back and on the warpath. Since AEW Revolution, the target has been clear: Jon Moxley. With the match confirmed for AEW Dynasty, Ospreay isn’t stupid (or as stupid as what some of David Finlay’s tweets might suggest). Ospreay is aware of the threat posed by the Death Riders’ numbers and unique, vicious personalities. So, this past Dynamite, Ospreay made a challenge to the Bastard.

Since Forbidden Door 2025, when the Death Riders took out Ospreay, PAC has been somehow even more phenomenal. PAC, as a wrestler and character, has elevated the hardman character to a level that would make the Dynamite Kid uneasy. Given the form between these two previous, it’s going to be a brutalising banger. It’s been two years since these two have faced each other. Last time it was for the AEW International Championship at AEW All Out 2024.

If there is someone capable of being more than a gatekeeper and obstacle, of potentially reinjuring Ospreay and crushing hopes of this rematch, it will take a Bastard to do it. Both Brits are in for an amazing 2026, as I’ve predicted already for All In 2026.

Putting pen to paper should be straightforward. However, when Renee Paquette revealed that any physical contact between Kenny Omega and MJF before the contract is signed, their match at AEW Dynasty is off, it signposts that The Devil has something planned. Kenny Omega knows this. We, the fans, know this.

MJF, the man who the previous PPV cycle tried to get away with a double-headed coin, is scheming. How exactly? In Omega’s hometown, what buttons will MJF try to press? Does MJF think he has some silver bullets ready that will make The Best Bout Machine lose it? Has ammunition been provided through MJF’s new association with Don Callis?

When MJF defended the AEW World title against Kenny Omega in Connecticut in 2023, this was not the same Omega. A health and medical crisis changed The Cleaner, and in what could be his final shot at a world title, does MJF really think he can manipulate Omega like a puppet? Well, the MJF we are seeing in this second title reign isn’t afraid to show weakness. Yet at the same time, as seen at AEW Revolution, the Devil can be humiliated, but can he be defeated?
