Last Friday, former AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman married his long-time girlfriend, YouTuber and AEW backstage interviewer Alicia Atout. While it looked like it was a lovely wedding, there was some backstage drama. Some of the photos from the wedding were leaked, which has reportedly caused some ire in AEW.

It’s not the photos that the Bride or Groom shared that have caused issues within AEW, but fans. According to Bryan Alvarez on Tuesday’s "Wrestling Observer Radio”, some fans reportedly found the images in family albums on Facebook and reposted them on X or Instagram. The photo that has caused the most chaos is of MJF and AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page together. The two are supposed to be bitter enemies within the promotion.
It was Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer who explained that AEW was not happy with the leaked pictures. He also stated that MJF was especially not happy about it because of how important his heel persona is to him. Meltzer said:
"I know that they're not particularly happy it happened. It's not the end of the world ... But it's still, especially for people who have kind of the mentality that [MJF] would have, and I would presume Page would have, but I know he would have, in the sense of he wouldn't want that. He's trying to be a heel from the '70s and '80s in 2025. And it's not the easiest thing to do, and he works very hard at being that kind of a heel that people genuinely hate ... and there's nothing wrong with trying to create the illusion that these feuds are real. I mean, we know they're not, but you do want to create the illusion. And I don't think you want to break the illusion." (h/t: WrestlingInc)
Though granted, as seen in the above photo, it’s pretty hard to see where Hangman is in the group photo. He’s on the left side in the back row, standing behind AEW star Kip Sabian. It almost appears that he photobombed it.
It was on August 24 at Forbidden Door, where the two had their latest match against each other. Page successfully retained the title against MJF. Ahead of that match, it involved Mark Briscoe getting kidnapped, and MJF threatened to set him on fire unless Page agreed to two stipulations. The two stipulations were: the title could change hands via countout or DQ, and this title match didn’t count as MJF’s Casino Gauntlet contract. MJF won the contract for a future World Title match during the AEW All In: Texas pay-per-view. That was also when Page defeated Jon Moxley and became the new AEW World Champion.
Anyway, the stipulations were used at Forbidden Door, though Page still got the win over MJF even with the shady doings. Page also had a little help from Briscoe. Page got the pin by hitting a third and final Deadeye and then a Buckshot Lariat. Before Forbidden Door, the last time the two were in the ring against each other was in March at Revolution, and Hangman once again got the best of MJF. Maybe it was Alicia’s idea to invite Page to the wedding…
