AEW is rapidly expanding across the professional wrestling universe, and now it's dipping its feet further into the pop culture world. Earlier this month, AEW announced a new partnership with DC Comics that will present a two-issue crossover event featuring the stars of AEW teaming up with the Justice League.

According to AEW's press release on October 1st, "DC and AEW will also co-promote DC K.O., the DC Comics event launching in October from acclaimed creators Scott Snyder and Javier Fernandez, across AEW’s linear broadcasts, digital platforms, and social media channels. The collaboration will culminate in DC Comics serving as the presenting sponsor for AEW’s marquee pay-per-view event, Full Gear, live from Newark, New Jersey."

To help promote the partnership and crossover issues, AEW stars were on hand for a special signing at the DC Comics area at New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 11th. Speaking exclusively with TheSportster, AEW stars Jon Moxley, Orange Cassidy, and Darby Allin talked about the crossover series, and who they would love to work with in the DC Comics Universe.

Jon Moxley Is Tired Of Batman's Failures

As the leader of the villainous Death Riders stable, Jon Moxley has spent the last year and change terrorizing the AEW roster, wreaking havoc and bringing violence to anyone in their path. Moxley, a four-time AEW World Champion, fits the bill perfectly to team up with one of the many villains or antiheroes that exist inside the DC Comics Universe.

Moxley tells me he's excited to see AEW and DC Comics team up, a testament to the fanbase of AEW and their support of their favorite stars.

It's pretty surreal. To be in a real DC comic book is pretty wild. It shows how much the fans have latched on to the characters they see on AEW every week. So it's a pretty good thing for fans.

Moxley says he knows who he thinks would be a perfect addition to the Death Riders, but has zero patience or use for Batman, saying he's done nothing but fail in his pursuit of The Joker.

The Red Hood gets business done, usually. I wouldn't have Batman. Because at a certain point, are you just not going to kill the Joker?

It's getting ridiculous. I'm a pragmatist. Come on. What are we doing here? I just can't get with that. One chance, two. Okay, by the third time, you've escaped Arkham and gone on a murdering spree. Why would you just shoot him? Somebody f****** shoot him.

Orange Cassidy Is Excited For The AEW x DC Comics Crossover (We Think, We're Actually Not Sure)

Perhaps no one conveys the excitement and anticipation regarding the AEW x DC Comics crossover event to the extent that Freshly Squeezed himself, Orange Cassidy, has. A man of many words and deep emotions, Cassidy paused to intently answer how he was during New York Comic Con, and answered with his usual robust enthusiasm.

Fine.

Among the most notable and recognizable stars in AEW, Cassidy was a natural fit into the AEW x DC Comics crossover series. He calls the experience and the crossover news surreal.

It's DC. Top Dogs. It's a real comic book by real artists, and they paired me with Harley Quinn. So Harley Quinn and I are going to mess around in a comic book, which is crazy to think about. It hasn't really hit me yet. I just found out yesterday. So I think when I actually see it, I'll be like, whoa.

When asked about who he'd like to take down or bring to justice, Cassidy says he'd take on Superman's biggest foe.

I mean, no one. I mean, probably Lex Luthor, just because he's just a smart dude, right? I could punch him and he'd go down.

Darby Allin Loves The Unique Cross Promotion Of AEW And DC Comics

The most anarchic and death-defying performer in AEW, Darby Allin defines what it means to be an AEW star. With a move set fit for a DC Comics arc that could easily fit into Gotham, Allin is likely to be one of the most easily plugged in AEW stars into the DC Comics Universe.

Allin calls the news "pretty crazy" and said he's excited to see a different kind of cross promoting for AEW, one that's fresh and original.

It's pretty crazy. I only found out about it just a little while ago, but when I heard it, I was like, Wait, what? I saw the cover last week, and I was like, 'Holy s***, this is wild.' So it's cool to be around it. Anything that's cross-promoting with different cultures is always fun because I don't want to recycle wrestling back into wrestling.

After teaming with The Icon, Sting, it's virtually impossible to think of anyone else who'd work so well with him, but Allin says it's an easy choice about who he'd team with in the DC Comics Universe.

I know it sounds generic, but I'd say Batman. I'd go Batman, final answer.

The AEW X DC Comics two-part crossover comic book issues are set to be released in 2026, and can be found at AEWShop.com, as well as at select AEW live events and participating comic bookshops across the country. The DC K.O. comic book event can be seen on AEW's programming on TBS and TNT.

The DC crossover event will come to a conclusion at AEW Full Gear, presented by DC Comics, live from the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on Saturday, November 22, 2025. The event can be seen on HBO Max, Prime Video, and TrillerTV. Check your local listings for start times in your area.
