Retired WWE performer AJ Styles recently voiced strong criticism of the company’s decision not to accelerate the rise of promising talent Bron Breakker toward a world championship opportunity.

Styles, speaking on his podcast, expressed puzzlement over the booking choices surrounding the young star.

“How long are we going to wait for Bron Breakker to be Heavyweight Champion? He should be next,” Styles said.

“I think that he’s definitely a star right now. Why we haven’t put it on him to put the rocket up his butt and send him to the freaking moon? I don’t know why we haven’t done that because he is the destroyer.”

Breakker had earned widespread recognition as a standout prospect following a highly successful tenure in NXT. His transition to the main roster began with significant momentum, including notable storylines involving figures such as Paul Heyman, Seth Rollins and CM Punk.

In recent months, however, that progress has stalled. Breakker has appeared increasingly removed from the top contenders for major titles.

Styles, who no longer competes in matches, continues to contribute to WWE through coaching, talent development and scouting duties. His extensive career spanning more than two decades informs his perspective on elevating emerging performers.

Observers note that WWE’s current main event hierarchy places Roman Reigns, CM Punk and Cody Rhodes in a distinct upper tier. Other established names such as Gunther and Seth Rollins frequently factor into title picture developments.

The organization has repeatedly returned championship gold to a limited group of veterans. Newer athletes including Breakker, Oba Femi and Trick Williams will eventually need decisive victories over these established figures to gain comparable standing.

Following an injury that forced Rollins to relinquish the world title, Punk defeated Breakker in a key contest. Many expected that moment to launch a stronger push for the younger competitor, yet the company has since decelerated his advancement.

Despite the slowdown, Breakker retains opportunities to regain traction. Parallel developments involving other rising names offer context, such as Femi’s ongoing rivalry with Brock Lesnar, which aims to build his credibility for future title contention.

Sustaining fan interest requires young performers to secure engaging rivalries and deliver consistent in-ring results. Breakker’s association with the faction known as The Vision has lost steam amid various injuries, diminishing its overall impact.

WWE faces the challenge of rebuilding momentum for Breakker to position him for the kind of elevated push Styles has advocated. A combination of unfortunate circumstances and booking decisions has complicated the path toward his first main roster world title.

Industry analysts continue monitoring how the company balances its established stars with the next generation of talent. Styles’ comments underscore ongoing discussions about the timing of major opportunities within the promotion.
