If a picture indicates anything, then it appears WWE’s Asuka is headed towards surgery following talk of an injury.
Missing from action in recent months is Asuka. Her disappearance has been subtle, as Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai, Kairi Sane and Iyo Sky) having been staying busy. At Backlash, Asuka and Sane dropped the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship to to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. Asuka was set for the following RAW as part of the Queen of the Ring Tournament, but was pulled. WWE noted how she was not medically cleared to compete.
Since that May 4 pay per view from France, we have not seen Asuka. She did send out a tweet, showing her knee bandaged and in a brace. Also, it seems like she is in some type of medical facility. There is no word if Asuka has undergone surgery or if that is even required. She has been silent and so has WWE. Therefore, still no word on exactly what is wrong with the knee area.
After lasting longer than many thought, the stable could be in their decline. They are not placed in any major angles and now they are down a top star. Without having Bayley or working against her, Damage CTRL seems lost. Honestly, it might be time for the group to go their separate ways. Although, I would like to see Asuka and Sane continue teaming. They are one of the few female tag teams with credibility.
Upon joining WWE, Asuka went undefeated in NXT. In fact, she is yet to lose on that brand. Her main roster run started great, but the long winning streaks are not for future bookings. Once she lost to Charlotte Flair, all the momentum was gone. Maybe, the time away will allow WWE to better present the wrestler. So, if Asuka is having surgery, how long will the latest injury keep her away from the ring?
