It was earlier this month, and before news about Seth Rollins' injury, that Austin Theory was slated to join The Vision. Well, due to Rollins’ shoulder injury, things got thrown into a loop, though those backstage are still trying to get Theory back on television.
There are still voices within WWE pushing to keep Austin Theory involved in creative plans, even after the recent shuffling caused by Seth Rollins’ injury. The idea of Theory joining The Vision was at least discussed, and he still has internal support moving forward to reappear… pic.twitter.com/6BHaJAfref— WrestlePurists (@WrestlePurists) October 21, 2025
In the latest report from WrestleVotes, there are said to be people still pushing for Theory to be involved in creative plans, even though his joining the Vision is pretty much over. He also still has internal support “moving forward” to reappear on TV in a “significant manner.”
According to the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, there were already plans for Theory to join The Vision as soon as the October 13 episode of WWE RAW. Instead, that was when Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed turned on Rollins. As noted before, Theory was planned to team with Rollins, Breakker, Reed, and Brock Lesnar for the men’s WarGames match at Survivor Series. Even though there is no Rollins, Theory could still fit somewhere in the WarGames match.
Over the summer, the 28-year-old was placed on WWE’s internal injury list, and his tag team with Grayson Waller, A-Town Down Under, was disbanded. In reality, the tag team was already on its outs because they never really saw eye to eye. Waller saw him as a “dead weight.” His last match was on the July 14, 2025 taped episode of WWE Main Event, where he lost to El Grande Americano. Before that was the June 23 taped episode of Main Event, and again, there was a loss.
The last time he wrestled on a main roster brand was the May 5, 2025 episode of RAW, where he was in a match against Sheamus. So far this year, he's had roughly 15 matches under his belt before he was put on the injured list. It’s unclear what was wrong with him. He's obviously healed up if Creative was thinking of adding him to The Vision as soon as October 13. Anyway, most of those matches were on WWE Main Event. The only PLE he has been part of this year is the NXT Vengeance Day PLE, where he and Waller both lost to then NXT Champion Oba Femi. So hopefully, whatever WWE Creative decides to do with Austin Theory, it’s something good for his career. He’s kind of in limbo.
