Ben Affleck Shares his GOAT WWE Wrestlers

Since Triple H has taken over as head of creative and WWE has finalized the Endeavor deal, the company is finally regaining mainstream acceptance. Wrestling is finally "cool" again, thanks to the most loaded roster since the Attitude Era, with enough engaging storylines and angles that don't blatantly insult the audience's intelligence.

Like discussing any media, there is always a desire to put the business through a historical lens. Rankings and lists can be exhaustive at times, but it's always fascinating to see which wrestlers resonate with people, especially A-list Hollywood movie stars.

In a recent appearance on Complex's GOAT Talk with Jon Bernthal, Ben Affleck shared who he thought were some of the best WWE stars ever. "I was going to go with Ric Flair," Affleck said. "Roddy Piper is great. Sgt. Slaughter, the Iron Sheik—you know, definitely the classics."

It's clear Affleck was primarily a fan in the mid-80s to early 90s, but you could tell by his reaction and tone that he has fond memories of those performers. He picked plenty of familiar favorites, but it is rather funny most of his choices were heels.

Over the summer, there was a report from PWInsider of Affleck looking to play Hulk Hogan in a potential screenplay about Hogan's lawsuit against Gawker. The former WWE champion swiftly threatened to sue Affleck over the potential movie, with little information on the project emerging since.

It's great for wrestling to re-emerge in public discourse and no longer be a taboo topic.
