Brock Lesnar Claims The Version Of Him Fans Know Isn't Who He Really Is
WWE

Brock Lesnar is a pretty intimidating, some might say downright terrifying individual. Weighing in at 300 pounds and coming from a legitimate wrestling and then fighting background, the consensus for decades has been that the Lesnar we see on TV is the same Lesnar people get in real life. However, according to the man himself, that's not accurate.

Brock Lesnar Isn't The Same Man When The Cameras Stop Rolling

Lesnar performed a rare interview with Barstool Sports this week, and, even rarer, was incredibly open and candid about not only his career, but his life outside of WWE, too. That's how we now know that, as much as it might seem that WWE's Brock Lesnar and real-life Brock Lesnar are one and the same, they're actually very different people.

"People see the entertainment Brock Lesnar, and they think that that’s who I am, but it’s not who I am," Lesnar explained. "I don’t let people into my circle enough to know. It’s been a mystique for a long time," he added, also noting that he "can be an a**hole" when he wants to be.

Lesnar is from the tail end of an era in pro wrestling where not only was it the done thing to try and keep your real-life away from what was happening in the ring and on TV, but it was much easier to do when he started. Shooting to WWE fame in the early 2000s, there was no social media, and the internet was still in its infancy.

Brock Lesnar's Career Started When It Was Earser To Keep Your Work Life And Your Real Life Separate

WWE

Although there weren't many fans who still believed pro wrestling was "real", and you could find behind-the-scenes chatter if you went looking for it, Lesnar took notes from The Undertaker and Stone Cold. Two men who were masters of keeping their lives outside of WWE entirely unrelated to the characters they portrayed on TV.

Lesnar actually had an advantage over both of those mega stars when it came to making that happen, that being the legitimate background he already had when arriving in WWE. A decorated collegiate wrestler, Lesnar was a believable monster the second fans clapped eyes on him.

That aura has stayed with him for his entire 25-year career. The Beast Incarnate is also an incredibly private person, something that has helped him maintain the mystery that surrounds him. No one really sees Lesnar out in the wild, so it makes sense that there are very few people who know the real him, and explains why we fans have just assumed the Lesnar we know is the Lesnar everyone gets, whether the cameras are rolling or not.
