  • The TLC match at SummerSlam was a wild multi-team ride with 12 wrestlers risking it all for the titles.
  • Bodies flew all over the ring as chaos ensued, with numerous brutal moves and hits involving ladders and tables.
  • Gacy and his team ultimately retained the WWE Tag Team Championships after a fierce battle at the top of the ladders.

Twenty five years on from the original Tables, Ladders and Chairs match at SummerSlam 2000, six tag teams of the modern era paid tribute to the onlooking Hardy and Dudley Boyz with one of the most death defying, chaotic bouts in WWE history.

The TLC Match Lived Up To Its History

Touting the history of this iconic match, WWE promoted the appearance of The Dudley Boys and the Hardy Boyz ahead of the match.

All 12 men looked up at the titles hanging above the ring. All of the challengers went after the champions in the Wyatt Sicks. Once dumped out of the ring, bodies started flying everywhere. Fraxiom got the early upper hand but it was too early to use the ladder. It quickly became a weapon. Gacy missed the ladder on a backdrop, so the Street Profits went for it again, which worked.

The Profits started stacking tables outside the ring. Andrade and Rey Fenix tried to get the belts without the use of the ladders, and came close. They went for a tandem move off the top rope, but were caught by DIY. They climbed, but got hit by chair shots from the Motor City Machine Guns. Gargano hit a DDT on Gacy through a table outside. Lumis jumped onto Montez Ford through a table. Fenix hit a top rope splash on the outside through a table. Dawkins went for a move, got caught by Axiom, and was hit with a Spanish Fly through yet another table on the outside. It was consecutive carnage and bodies were everywhere.

Extra Bodies Started Getting Involved In The Match

Candice LeRae came out of the ring and started climbing the ladder. She was caught by B-Fab, who then climbed, only to be caught by Nikki Cross. LeRae went back up and DIY was guarding the ladder. She was inadvertently knocked off the ladder to the outside and through another ladder on the floor. Gargano went for the titles, got caught by Ford, who was stopped by Erik Rowan (who wasn't legal in the match).

The Profits blasted Rowan with chair shots. He stood up and was speared through a table in the corner. Ciampa was left standing, set up the ladder and began to climb. MCMG took the ladder and Ciampa was hanging. Fraser went for a spear, but Ciampa lifted his legs. He stayed hanging from the ladder until Gargano put the ladder back. Ford leaped onto the ladder, and he almost had the belts when Axiom stopped him.

It was a battle at the top of the ladders, but Uncle Howdy showed up and dumped both ladders, sending everyone through tables on the outside. Nathan Fraser sprinted up the ladder to stop Howdy, but a Mandible Claw met him. Andraded hit a sunset flip power bomb on Howdy through a ladder. Fenix was left at the top of the ladder, but Lumis hit him with a chair. Gacy climbed the ladder and unhooked the titles to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships.
