If Chris Jericho returns to WWE, reports are that he's got two big reasons for doing so. A huge part of AEW's rise and start-up success, Jericho has been teasing being open to the idea of a WWE return and many believe he's headed back to the company and may make a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble. But, a loud pop isn't the only reason he's looking at a return.

Coming off the success of the John Cena farewell tour, and with word that WWE is playing on doing something similar for AJ Styles in 2026, Jericho might be thinking about has his own final run. A report by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that Jericho is eyeing his own farewell tour, one that would culminate in a big final match and an induction into the WWE Fall of Fame in 2027. They reported, "People in WWE believe that he’s coming to WWE, for what that’s worth... We’ll see. It’s up to him."
It's understandable that Jericho might be seeing a WWE run as a good way to end his in-ring career. The reaction to Cena's final match with AJ Styles at Crown Jewel was off the charts positive, and ticket sales for Cena's last match at Saturday Night's Main Event sold in record time. All the while, AEW fans have started to turn on Jericho and reject him as a performer. Going out to a chorus of boos in AEW is not an ideal way to go.
If Jericho was still on the fence about leaving AEW for WWE, there is enough evidence out there now to know that Jericho would be well-received by the WWE Universe. They will welcome him back with open arms, even if his wrestling ability is not what it once was.
There are so many great WWE moments when it comes to Jericho, there is no shortage of creative ideas WWE could run with if Jericho came back for one final year and wound up his career before being a shoo-in for the Hall of Fame.
Nothing is for sure yet. Jericho may inevitably go back to AEW and he may jump to WWE. It's one of those situations where few people, if any, know what he's going to do until he does it.
