On Sunday, August 10, three WWE stars announced their release from the company. These stars are Karrion Kross, Scarlett Bordeaux, and NXT’s Ashante Adonis. The WWE previously released these three in November 2021, along with many other wrestlers. By 2022, these three were back with the company.
Why wasn’t this second run for these stars as successful as many had hoped? Is this second run officially over for Kross and Bordeaux?
Karrion Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux returned to the WWE in 2022 after many fans were upset about their release the year prior. Since their return to the company, fans have been pushing for Kross, but once again, he has fallen into inconsistent booking.
Over the past few years, Kross has had successful stories, such as with Drew McIntyre and The Final Testament, but with inconsistent booking, it’s nearly impossible for him to rise in the company.
The release of Karrion Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux has been heavily rumored since SummerSlam by the WWE Universe, as we have become aware that their WWE contract was set to expire soon. Due to the ongoing uncertainty about whether they would resign with the company, some people don’t believe he has been released. This could be a move similar to the Rollins’ injury to elicit a stronger reaction from fans.
August 10, fans noticed that Kross and Bordeaux were moved to the WWE Alumni section on their website. Scarlett Bordeaux later confirmed the news on her Instagram page.

Kross released an hour-long video on his YouTube Channel titled “My WWE Contract Expires Today.” In this video, he expressed his gratitude to the company and how he enjoyed his time there. He also mentioned his frustration with the company’s failure to listen to the audience. The fans have been chanting and posting on social media, “We Want Kross,” but they haven’t received much.
Kross stated in the video,
“I would love to stay with WWE. I would love, ideally, to finish my career there, I really would. I don’t know what’s going to happen, though.”
It will be exciting to see what the future holds for these two. They are two captivating characters who fell through the cracks of the WWE. They have a bright future, regardless of how they choose to proceed. With or without WWE, they have the fans on their side.
Ashante “Thee” Adonis from NXT is another star who announced their release via Instagram on August 10. Some of what he stated included how,
“This is a brand new beginning. I am becoming the best version of myself. You have only seen a glimpse of my true potential, and I’m just scratching the surface. I know that to some this can be a dark time, but stars can’t shine without darkness.”
Adonis shows to be very grateful for his time in the WWE and looks forward to his future, as do we.

In 2021, Adonis was released among a handful of other superstars, including Karrion Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux. He returned in 2022 with the rest of his tag team, Hit Row, including Top Dolla and B-Fab.
Once Hit Row split up, all of their characters fell into the mix with everyone else. Top Dolla got released in 2023, while B-Fab is just now making a spot for herself on the main roster. Over the past few years, Adonis has been in NXT and had stories with people such as Cedric Alexander and Je’Von Evans. After the disbandment of Hit Row, it seemed as if Adonis had been coasting in NXT.
Reportedly, Adonis’ contract expired; however, it is unclear if WWE offered him another one or not. Either way, we wish Adonis the best in his future.
