R-Truth made a shocking return to WWE on Saturday night, appearing at Money in the Bank and spearing John Cena, despite widespread belief among fans and even fellow wrestlers that the company had released him. During the post-Money in the Bank media scrum, Triple H was asked about R-Truth’s return and responded, “Are you enjoying the show? It’s all part of the show,” leading many to believe WWE had been working the audience all along. However, it has since been learned that this may not have been entirely accurate. In fact, it might be a bold-faced lie. WWE reportedly made several calls to R-Truth after news of his release emerged, attempting to bring him back, many of which he ignored.
Even R-Truth confirmed this was not a bit of creative misdirection when he posted to social media, "No work."

R-Truth is back with WWE and will be going under the Ron Killings name going forward (his real name), at least initially. The decision to bring him back happened over the past 72 hours.(via PWlnsider) pic.twitter.com/g5W7DRSx2c— Wrestle Ops (@WrestleOps) June 8, 2025
Per Fightful,(h/t @EliteClubS0B) R-Truth ignored multiple attempts by WWE throughout the week to reconnect after he posted that he had been let go by the company. Despite the best efforts from several people, he remained silent until Nick Khan personally reached out and called him to work out a new deal.
According to BodySlam.net, Khan personally worked out this new WWE deal with R-Truth (Ron Killings), not Triple H. According to a source, the new deal came together sometime on Friday. "The new deal isn’t a normal active working talent deal, but it gives R-Truth the opportunity for one true final run."
It is believed that, as part of this run, he will be going under the name Ron Killings. How his character will differ from his comedic R-Truth gimmick, which fans have come to know and love, is unclear, but that should become clear over the next couple of weeks.
It seems evident from the post-PLE media scrum that Triple H has no intention to copping to the truth (pun intended). He's suggesting this was all part of the storyline and that WWE has been working the audience with this angle. If accurate, it's an ingenious way for WWE to get Truth more over than he's ever been. Unfortunately, this might be spin by WWE to avoid admitting to an error.
These other reports of a real-life release seem to counter the stance Triple H took on Saturday night. If it wasn’t a work and WWE realized their mistake, then credit to WWE for actually listening to the fans (and maybe the locker room too). Triple H positioning this whole thing to look like he's been the puppet master this entire time, however, could come back to bite him.
