It was not that long ago that Dominik Mysterio’s gimmick was that everyone booed him so loudly that he couldn’t even be heard on the microphone. That has all changed. He has gone from a hated nepo-baby to the heel that everyone either loves or loves to hate.

Dominik Mysterio: From Rey’s Son To His Own Man

Let’s face it, WWE has not been great in the character development department for most of its wrestlers. Wrestlers like LA Knight, Rusev, and Giulia are perfect examples of talented wrestlers that WWE has not put in the work to develop. There is no character growth, and there is no storyline growth. They are just stuck spinning their gears. Mysterio, however, has been different.

When WWE brought in Mysterio, he was the raw, inexperienced son of a wrestling legend, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio. Since then, we have gotten to watch him grow and develop right in front of our eyes. We saw the early days teaming with his dad when he didn’t know a wristlock from a wrist watch. We watched as he turned heel and joined the Judgement Day. We have seen his recent ascension to dual-champion.

What Is Next For Dominick Mysterio?

“Dirty Dom” has become so popular that it seems we may soon see the Judgement Day turn on him. That would surely trigger a full-circle moment when his dad comes to his rescue and the two reunite to take down the Judgement Day together. We could even see the two as tag team champions again.

With Rey about to turn 51 in December and constant talk of his retirement, I am sure there is already a plan in motion behind the scenes for the process. Rey will either retire with Dominik at his side or because Dominik retires him. Both would be great storylines, but it would not surprise me in the least to see father put son over on the way out. Either way, “Dirty Dom” has seemingly outgrown the Judgement Day.

End Of My Dominik Mysterio Rant

It has been an amazing journey from nepo-baby to champion for “Dirty Dom.” His childish portrayal of a young Eddie Guerrero wannabe who lies, cheats, and steals has gone from tired and played out to fan favorite. Many of the boos have turned to cheers. The young Mysterio has nearly reached the antihero status that he has aimed for. In many ways, the Mysterio storyline has kept the Judgement Day faction afloat. His father has got to be over the moon with how things have played out. There were hits and misses along the way, but in the end, “Dirty Dom” has proven ready and able to carry the Mysterio name into the next era of wrestling.
