AEW handed debuts to many big names in 2024. Constantly in the market for new talent, AEW has never been afraid to hand out big contracts for huge names and that trend is unlikely to decline this year.
Here, we look at numerous names who might show up in AEW in 2025 .
Since a photo emerged last year of Tony Khan sitting with the son of Vince McMahon, speculation has been identified regarding Shane McMahon coming in and working a potential angle. At the birth of the Death Riders angle, it was assumed by some that it was McMahon leading the charge, but with that storyline currently fading into obscurity, it may need the presence of the veteran daredevil to resurrect it.
Surely a certainty for the Forbidden Door season, Gabe Kidd announced himself to the world with a stunning performance opposite Kenny Omega at the most recent Wrestle Kingdon event in Japan. The British star has made brief appearances on a small level for both AEW and ROH but with the Omega performance set to be a huge platform for him to build on, a decent run in AEW could be what he needs to boost his profile to a bigger audience in America.
There’s still uncertainty regarding the contract of AJ Styles, but if he wishes to end his almost decade-long run in WWE, then he’s surely a name that AEW will be all over. Styles has proven to be a reliable hand no matter where he’s performed and even if he’s not occupying the top spot in a company, his work rate is amongst the best in the industry. Numerous readymade feuds in AEW await Styles, and he won’t be short of mouthwatering rivals if he eventually makes the switch.
Is there space for Baron Corbin on AEW’s already bloated roaster that is awash with former WWE talent? Corbin’s versatility and ability to easily draw a reaction make him worth taking a gamble on due to the number of roles he can play. Corbin’s heart is probably set on returning to WWE one day, but a brief run in AEW where he can possibly elevate others might be a suitable short-term option for all parties.
A standout in TNA and someone capable of regularly delivering high-quality matches for Tony Khan, Mike Bailey is surely someone AEW is eager to bring in. Bailey has a history with numerous AEW talents and putting him opposite Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, or Konosuke Takeshita is a quick way to showcase his impressive repertoire. How about signing Josh Alexander simultaneously and bringing them both in to restore credibility to the tag division? Whatever the plan, Bailey will give his all ensuring it works.
