Former WWE Champion Teases Joining AEW

Being a casualty of the dreaded WWE budget cuts is no longer a career derailment. The Stanford, Connecticut-based promotion is still the mecca of the wrestling world, but it's no longer the only place where a wrestler can make a comfortable living.

The American independent scene is starting to explode, not to mention all the options abroad. Nothing has been more beneficial to the industry's long-term health than a viable national alternative in All Elite Wrestling. A former WWE champion released in February is eyeing the jump to AEW and could potentially join a prominent stable.

During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Cedric Alexander discussed his ideal next move. "100% I'd be open to joining AEW and joining the Hurt Syndicate," Alexander said. "That's a big chapter of my career I really felt was never explored, and I think it'll be great to finish that out. I think that's where I want to be. Yeah, definitely—there's just so much meat on the bone I'd like to get to."

Alexander was very candid in his desire to link back up with MVP Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley. After the group formerly known as the Hurt Business disbanded in WWE, Alexander was the one who suffered the most, lost in the obscurity of a bloated roster and unable to jump ship with his former stablemates.

The 35-year-old isn't a maestro on the mic but an above-average in-ring worker with one of the coolest finishers you'll see. His 90-day release clause just happens to expire on Wednesday, May 14th, so don't rule out Alexder debuting on that night's Dynamite.
