Gunther, known as the Ring General and Career Killer, has become the WWE universe’s favorite person to hate. Within the last year, Gunther has sent Goldberg, John Cena, and The Phenomenal AJ Styles into retirement with losses. It is not enough to just beat his opponents, however, as Gunther constantly brags about his victories and trolls the fans in the process. Those actions were taken a step further this past Monday night on Raw.
To the surprise of everyone inside the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, PA, the theme of Styles came blasting through the speakers. The emotional crowd thought they were getting an appearance from the recently retired legend, but it turned out to be Gunther tugging at their heartstrings. The Career Killer made his way to the stage in a similar fashion to Styles, popped his head up, and burst into laughter.

Once Gunther entered the ring, the crowd yelled profanities and booed him to the point where he could barely get a word in (which is a regular occurrence now). The Ring General eventually yelled over the angry fans, reminding them once again that he put three legends to sleep for good.
The former tag team partner of Styles, Dragon Lee, decided to interrupt the promo with a kick to Gunther’s face. After Lee initially had the upper hand, the Ring General smashed him in the face with the ring bell and applied his famous sleeper hold yet again.
WWE officials would intervene, momentarily separating the two competitors. Gunther, however, decided the job was not finished and applied one more sleeper to Lee, who had already been gasping for air. This time, the Career Killer hung his opponent over the top rope, and Lee gave everyone a masterclass in selling in the process.

As Raw announcer Michael Cole stated, this could be the most dangerous man in WWE right now. The entire locker room is now on notice that the Ring General is not to be trifled with. As someone who trolls the crowd and ends the careers of everyone’s favorite stars, this feels like the heel that the industry needed.
No one knows what is next for Gunther, but there are more older legends he could take down and a World Heavyweight Championship that he surely wants back. If CM Punk can retain the title at WrestleMania against the man who eliminated Gunther from the Royal Rumble , Roman Reigns, Gunther could kill two birds with one stone.
Punk plans to compete for at least two more years, so it would not be a retirement match (yet). It would, however, give the Ring General another opportunity to dominate another long-time legend and get back to the top of the mountain in WWE.
Randy Orton, who will be 46 in April, could be another target down the line. The Career Killer retiring Orton, who was once known as the Legend Killer, would be an ironic but fitting ending to Orton’s career.
