Pro wrestling is a super dangerous activity for anyone who participates, and the injuries are crazy. So many crazy moves and moments happen in those matches that make the fans wince in pain. Even looking at the schedules these wrestlers perform, it has a lasting effect on their bodies. One of those injuries involved current WWE superstar Bronson Reed. Recently, he talked about a severe injury, including the long-term effects.
Bronson Reed got hurt during last year’s Survivor Series War Games PPV show. He was in a War Games match with Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa, taking on Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, and CM Punk. Reed got hurt when he was attempting a Tsunami splash from the top of the cage to Zayn through a table. Zayn moved out of the way, and Bronson landed awkwardly on his feet.
It wasn’t just one, but both of his ankles broke that day, and it was unfortunate losing him as he was having fun matches with wrestlers like Braun Strowman, and Seth Rollins. However, from what Reed said, the right ankle was in much worse shape than the left one.
Reed would talk further about his recovery and how his injuries have affected him long-term. Reed made the following statement during the Raw Recap show.
“I had to build all my muscle back up in this right leg. Had to learn to walk again on this right leg, then learn to run, then learn to jump, and then eventually get in a ring and do everything that we do in the ring. My mobilit y in this right foot will never be 100% again. My new 100% is 75% of normal mobility in your foot, but I get it done, that’s all that matters. I tape it up, I put my boots on, I go out there, I beat people up.”
It’s just terrifying hearing him say that his foot’s mobility would never be the same, but it isn’t a shock. He had to relearn how to walk and build muscle back in his leg, which is why he was out for a long time. Bronson was lucky that he was not out longer from the description of his recovery. It is probably one of the few reasons he doesn’t stand on two feet on the top rope when doing his Tsunami move. Then again, he also does it as a tribute to WWE and ECW legend Bam Bam Bigelow.
Those who just give pro wrestling the “it’s fake” label need to stop. These wrestlers put their bodies on the line just to entertain the fans. Reed is one of WWE’s top heavyweights, and he is on the number 1 faction with stars like Bron Breakker, Seth Rollins, and Paul Heyman. While he may not be 100% when he chooses to retire, Reed will always have unforgettable memories inside the ring.
