The world of professional wrestling is an unpredictable place with changes coming each day. Amidst the discussion of Malakai Black reportedly leaving AEW, a new update has hinted towards his return to his former company, WWE, very soon.
The former leader of House of Black was a captivating addition made by Tony Khan to AEW in 2021. He was embroiled in high-profile programs with top stars like Adam Copeland and Cody Rhodes. But despite that, Black did not have a significant run, much like his time on WWE’s main roster.
Moreover, with the onset of 2025, reports began to hint that Malakai Black was reportedly done with Tony Khan’s company. Since then, his House of Black members formed a new faction called ‘Hounds of Hell.’ Now, a major development has hinted towards Black’s comeback in WWE.
According to the latest report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Malakai Black has indeed left AEW. He is reportedly now a free agent, and his deal expired yesterday. This came after his profile on AEW’s official website was moved to the Alumni section earlier.
“Black, a former WWE NXT Champion, signed with AEW in 2021. After WWE, then being overseen by Vince McMahon, released him. Black was pushed heavily by Paul Levesque [Triple H] in NXT, and one would think WWE is the most likely landing place for him,” Johnson claimed.
With Malakai Black ready to embark on the next leg of his wrestling career, it will be interesting to see if it leads him back to a new and different WWE regime.
