Jade Cargill and Rhea Ripley have been comparing their muscular physique and stealing each other’s lines while beefing on social media over backstage locker room drama. Hopefully, they don’t get into a shoot-out fight while stealing each other’s maneuvers. While this feud seems eminently surface-level from a storyline standpoint, this match is solid on paper and will be a spectacle for the casual fans. At WrestleMania 42, Rhea Ripley should pass the torch to Jade Cargill. Here is why Jade Cargill should retain the WWE Title.
It is ironic that Jade Cargill is a big bully in the SmackDown Locker Room because Rhea Ripley was similarly a bully during her days in NXT and NXT UK. She is the perfect choice to pass the torch to Cargill, a rising star whose entire title reign has been spent battling mid-carders instead of former world champs who can add legitimacy to her reign.
Cargill beat Damage Control alongside Belair and Naomi at ‘Mania 40 and defeated Naomi at ‘Mania 41. She can become the new Undertaker and continue her ‘Mania Streak at 3-0.
Meanwhile, Rhea Ripley already had three major WrestleMania Moments against Asuka at ‘Mania 37, Charlotte Flair at ‘Mania 39, and Becky Lynch at ‘Mania 40. She defeated those three established stars in major title matches and has now become established at a very young age.
Therefore, she does not need this win as much as Cargill, who is on the verge of becoming established. Besides, Ripley has a bigger story with her tag partner, Iyo Sky, on Raw and was actually the Plan B option to win the Elimination Chamber this year.
Bianca Belair was the original plan to win the Chamber this year and battle Cargill for the WWE Title at ‘Mania due to her long story with Cargill ever since winning the tag titles with her at Backlash in 2024. However, her debilitating finger injury and recent surgery prevented her from doing so.
Since Backlash is where they won the tag titles and will be in Cargill’s hometown of Tampa, Florida, right after Mania, it is likely that Cargill will walk into that PLE with the title around her waist and defend against a returning Belair.
Belair will call out Cargill for immorally bullying all the women in the locker room. Since Belair took Cargill under her wing, she would be disappointed in her new attitude. However, Cargill will still be angry at Belair for suspiciously teaming with Naomi for the tag titles after Naomi heinously attacked her on the windshield of a car last year.
Belair will retort that she was oblivious to Naomi’s actions and took herself out of the situation to avoid picking sides between two close friends. This is a story that warrants a trilogy this summer.
