Wrestlemania 41 kicked off with Jey Uso vs. Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and we were able to see a new champion crowned as “Main Event” Jey Uso was able to secure his first singles title and ending the reign of Gunther. The match was exciting and back-and-forth before Uso was able to put Gunther in a sleeper hold, the submission move of the champion, and get the submission victory.
This breaks an 0-6 record of Jey Uso in single’s championship matches and being 0-3 against “The Ring General” in his career. Let’s take a deeper dive into the match and what this means now that Jey Uso won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
The “YEET Movement” has been going on as Uso has proven to be one of the top singles stars in WWE and he was able to rally winning the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match and getting this championship match against Gunther. However, the match was looking like Gunther was going to retain his title when he went to the outside and grabbed the championship and teased walking away from the match. The referee would get in the way and be pushed away as Gunther hit Jey Uso with the belt. However, that would not be the finish to the match.
Now, the main event scene on Monday Night RAW is going to be interesting and if Uso can carry the pressures of being the champion of the roster. Expect a bevvy of challengers to make their names known as we could see a Wrestlemania rematch, Jey Uso getting a chance, or even the winner of CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns getting a chance at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. This will be an interesting era in WWE to see how Uso looks as the main champion.
