John Cena's retirement tour has been the top storyline for the WWE this year, make no mistake about it.
Earlier this year, Cena made history at WrestleMania 41 by capturing his 17th world championship. That broke a tie that he had with Ric Flair. Unfortunately for his fans, he turned heel in order to win the Undisputed WWE Championship. It wasn't until this August that he reverted back to a face. He then lost his title to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam.
Over the past two months, Cena has faced Logan Paul, Sami Zayn, Brock Lesnar and AJ Styles. His recent match against Styles paid tribute to a plethora of WWE greats, such as Bray Wyatt, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton and The Undertaker.
Cena isn't slated to be on TV until "Raw" in November. According to reports, he'll be at shows in Boston and New York.
There have been some rumors about Cena returning to the WWE for matches well past his retirement date. On Friday, he addressed all the speculation.
Cena said his final match will be on Dec. 13 at Saturday Night's Main Event in the nation's capital.
"Despite any speculation or rumors, on July 6, 2024 I announced I would retire from WWE in ring participation," Cena wrote on X. "I am far from perfect but strive to be a person whose word has value. 12/13/25 will be my final match. I am beyond grateful for every moment WWE has given me. I am excited for 12/13 & look forward to seeing all of you one last time."
