After walking away from wrestling, Celebrity Boxing has publicly extended a $1 million invitation John Cena, the 17-time World Champion, to make his professional boxing debut.
The offer comes at a pivotal moment. On December 13, 2025, Cena officially closed the book on his legendary 23-year in-ring career. Headlining Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C., Cena faced the Gunther in a high-stakes retirement match. In a rare and emotional finish, the 48-year-old icon was forced to tap out to a sleeper hold, marking a selfless “passing of the torch” to the next generation of WWE superstars.
“We’re just in a sleeper hold, but we’re having that conversation with the audience. As I essentially take my last breath and have struggled. You think of somebody, the natural causes scenario or however we picture loss in our life, all of us have been through it. They struggle and struggle, but they hang on just long enough to make sure to say goodbye to everyone that is meaningful in their lives. That whole day was so many meaningful and vulnerable conversations. Then, you realize, I’ve connected with everybody I love. Physically, I feel great. I think it’s time to take that last breath. I hate to keep going back to obituaries, but that was, ‘This person died peacefully,” Cena said
As of now, Cena has not officially responded to the million-dollar offer. His immediate schedule is packed with Hollywood commitments, including the lead role in the upcoming Matchbox action film and his ongoing duties as a WWE ambassador. While the $1 million offer may not be the biggest, the offer proves that Cena is still in high demand.
